Welcome
This year’s 1-day industry outreach event will focus on four topics:
Since last year’s Dahlgren Industry Day, the Warfare Center was significantly restructured, including combining N and T plus part of B Departments into W Department. The Center currently has a budget of nearly $1B, and the reconstituted W Department accounts for approximately $250-300M of that total. At the industry day, you will hear from Center leaders on the implications of this restructuring in terms of contracting and other activities. Few current events in the Navy have garnered more interest from the vendor community than the Integrated Warfare Systems (IWS). IWS represents the future of the Warfare Enterprise System (WES). As the way forward is defined, numerous contracting opportunities will present themselves, including bringing a fully functional open architecture to fruition. A representative of the IWS Program Executive Office has been invited to give a keynote address on the future of IWS and how solutions providers might meet the program’s challenges. Since last year’s fair, 500 new SeaPort prime contracts have been awarded bringing the total number of awards in all seven zones since the inception of this IDIQ vehicle to more than 900. Approximately 350 additional awards are anticipated in the next six weeks. Needless to say, the Navy expects a commensurate increase in the level of procurement activity associated with SeaPort, which is the default contracting vehicle for technical and professional support services in 22 areas. The Industry Day program will include updates on seaPort modifications and tips and techniques for successfully marketing with an Original SeaPort or SeaPort-e Contract. This year’s fair will also provide an opportunity for NSWCDD’s newly appointed commander, Captain Sheila Patterson, to meet and greet the vendor community on Day 5 of her new post. Captain Patterson is scheduled to assume command from Captain Joseph L. McGettigan on 25 May. This event is supported by the Commanding Officer and Deputy for Small Business, Naval Surface Warfare Center, and is sponsored by the National Small Business Council (NSBC), the Government Emerging Technology Alliance (GETA) and the National Contract Management Association - Dahlgren Chapter (NCMA). Updates to the agenda are on-going and will be posted here within 24 hours. Please check back for details. Registration for exhibitors is open and interest has been very high. Space is limited to the first 50 companies. Thank you. |
