The 17th Annual NSF Dahlgren Industry Day and Small Business Opportunities Fair was once again a huge success for both Industry and the Naval Community. On 21 May, over 700 participants gathered on the Parade Field to experience this valuable opportunity to network, learn about NSF Dahlgren initiatives and view the latest technologies, products, and services. Captain Sheila Patterson, Commander, NSWCDD, commended attendees for taking the time to participate. “This is a unique event that provides us the opportunity to meet with industry, communicate our needs to them, and see first hand the capabilities they offer to support our mission requirements.”
The sessions were highly attended due to the engaging content surrounding the theme of “The Way Ahead for Aegis and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense.” The keynote address, given by Mr. Scott Perry, Aegis BMD Director, Strategic Planning, Communication, and Alignment was an exciting presentation featuring descriptive videos of the satellite shoot-down as well as other BMD initiatives. The day continued with breakout sessions focusing on Aegis Modernization and Homeland Defense Issues. The afternoon sessions featured the Warfare Systems Department (W) Business Forecast and “Small Business Myths Debunked!” In addition to providing a valuable forum for Industry to learn about NSF Dahlgren initiatives and priorities, the event afforded NSF Dahlgren personnel the opportunity to conveniently view the latest in emerging technology. Over 300 base personnel came to the technology exhibits to learn what new innovations are available to aid in their missions. Thanks to the Commanding Officer and Deputy for Small Business, Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, the National Small Business Council (NSBC), the Government Emerging Technology Alliance (GETA) and the National Contract Management Association - Dahlgren Chapter (NCMA) for supporting this event and making it a success! |
