USAFRICOM/J4 and USAFRICOM/J6 invite you to participate in the African Logistics and Communications Symposium (ALCS26), which will combine the Africa Logistics Conference (ALC) and Africa Endeavor (AE). For the first time, these two events are merging to bring together their overlapping cohorts, enabling participants to build on the work from their past events while opening new avenues for information sharing in support of shared mission goals.

ALCS26 exhibit demonstrations will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, July 28-30, 2026. The event will have a shared opening and closing ceremony, with attendees breaking into their respective focus areas for general sessions. The combined exhibit hall will feature technology products and services relevant to both communities.

A Strategic Message for Our Industry Partners

The official theme for ALCS 2026 is “Forging Partnerships, Driving Innovation, and Enhancing Collective Readiness.” In direct support of this theme, this year’s symposium will have a special emphasis on connecting our African partners with a new generation of solutions. Our focus is on practicality and sustainability. We are seeking industry partners who can deliver solutions that are not only affordable and effective, but also have clear, achievable implementation roadmaps. Whether it’s a ready-now technology or a phased logistics framework, our goal is to build enduring capacity. This is your opportunity to demonstrate how your innovative solutions can deliver practical results.

Africa Endeavor is a multilateral effort focused on empowering African Partner nations to enhance their C4 (command, control, communications and computer systems) and cyber defense capabilities, by shaping national cyber strategies and enhancing their cyber defense capabilities, driving towards a secure, interoperable, and resilient communications infrastructure.

AE invites senior-level communicators from approximately 48 African partner nations, as well as cyber and information experts from multiple international organizations to a multi-day forum on the continent. The symposium occurs annually, fostering continuous growth and collaboration among participants.

Africa Endeavor has grown from an annual command exercise into an information sharing and communications summit. The African partner nations are looking to be educated on your solutions. Brush up on the current environment on the continent, understand their processes/problems, and explain how your solution meets those needs.

Africa Endeavor 2025

Africa Logistics Conference is expanding beyond West Africa to address critical issues and foster U.S. commercial opportunities across functional areas of logistics throughout the continent. This event brings together senior military officials, government representatives, program managers, frontline logisticians, subject matter experts, industry partners, and data scientists from across combat support and service support communities. It will continue to serve as a catalyst for U.S. commercial opportunities by fostering meaningful dialogue on readiness assessments, relationship-building, and advancing international cooperation.

In today’s complex and rapidly changing global security environment, the roles of military logisticians have never been more pivotal. Logistics is the pacing function of military operations, enabling protection and projection so force can fight and win. The evolving nature of warfare demands that we continuously adapt our strategies, tactics, and equipment, ensuring that strategic objectives can be met with operational efficiency and tactical effectiveness, now and into the future.

In this modern era of great power competition our forces must be ready for high-intensity warfare; contested across domains facing multifaceted challenges that will test us to our limits. The collaboration logisticians, partners, and U.S. companies will be more important than ever.

Exhibitor Information

This symposium includes a joint industry exhibit hall and demonstration theater opportunity. Attendees will meet face to face with solutions providers, discuss firsthand the challenges they face, and explore opportunities for building future relationships.

Exhibitors will display their products and services and offer demonstrations throughout the Symposium on Wednesday and Thursday. There will also be time for vendor interactions with the attendees during the Meet & Greet on Tuesday so please plan travel accordingly.

Your goal is to demonstrate how your solution provides a practical and sustainable path to increased capability. As you prepare, be ready to address:

  1. The Roadmap: What is the step-by-step process for implementation? How does your solution provide value at each phase, and what are the realistic timelines for deployment?
  2. Lifecycle & Sustainability: What are the long-term costs and training requirements? How does your solution empower partners to become self-sufficient through local maintenance, support, and knowledge transfer?
  3. Adaptability: How can your solution be scaled or adapted to fit different resource levels and operational environments on the continent?
  4. Affordability: How does your solution offer a cost-effective approach to achieving critical mission objectives, considering both initial investment and operational expenses?

We are looking for partners who can offer achievable plans, not just products.

Guidance from the Ethiopian Embassy

Health

  • Ethiopia is a safe and reasonably healthy country provided you take a few commonsense precautions.
  • Ensure your inoculations for typhoid, tetanus, polio and hepatitis A are up to date, mainly if you are traveling out of the capital or you will stay away from the largest hotels.
  • Anti-malarial prophylactics should be taken if you’ll be visiting low-lying moist regions such as the southern Rift Valley and South Omo. There is also a small risk of malaria, especially during the rainy season, at mid-altitude sites such as Bahir Dar and Harar. Malaria is all but absent above 2000m, for instance in Addis Ababa, Gondar, Lalibela and the Bale and Simien mountains.
  • Avoid drinking or brushing your teeth with tap water. Bottled water is safe and widely available.
  • It’s a good idea to carry a few packs of antiseptic wet wipes to wash your hands after toilet stops or before meals in more remote areas where running water may not be available.

Safety

  • Ethiopia is a safe and politically stable country, though there may be some risk attached to travel in remote border areas with more volatile neighbors such as Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan. None of these areas is likely to be visited on a normal tour.
  • Pickpockets and con artists proliferate in central Addis Ababa but are not a serious cause for concern elsewhere in the country.

Power

Ethiopia operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz, utilizing power sockets of type C, E, F, and L. Visitors from countries with 110-127V (like the US) require a voltage converter and a plug adapter. Modern devices like laptops and phones often support dual voltage, requiring only an adapter. Please ensure your devices are appropriately rated.

Currency

The Ethiopian birr is the currency. Banknotes come in denominations of birr 200,100, 50, 10, 5, and 1, and centime and birr 1 coins are also minted. Foreign currency, in particular US dollars, pounds sterling, and euros, can be changed into birr at private ‘forex bureaux’, as well as at most banks during banking hours (usually 8.30 am to 4 pm Monday–Saturday). Local currency can be drawn from a countrywide network of 24-hour ATMs with international Visa and MasterCard.
