EAST THEATER

Topic: Leading by Example, Creating a Data and AI-driven Company

THIS SESSION HAS REACHED CAPACITY

Leading a Data and AI transformation requires new mindsets and methods at every level; it takes an AI Enterprise culture. IBM has learned this first hand. In this experience-based session, Caitlin Halferty, IBM’s Director, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Accelerator and Client Success, will take you behind the scenes as he shares challenges and ultimate breakthroughs that transformed IBM’s culture and business processes with AI and data driven resources, all embedded in security and trust. These lessons will help accelerate your organization’s journey to AI, from data strategy and architecture to AI solutions.

Topic: KSQL: Streaming SQL for Apache Kafka®

THIS SESSION HAS REACHED CAPACITY

Apache Kafka is central to some of the most profound market and business transformations we have seen take place in the last 5 years. It has enabled real time data processing and distribution with performance and scale originally reserved for the largest and most elite engineering organizations.  Organizations are processing trillions of events a day with Kafka and creating applications and capabilities difficult to achieve only a short while ago. In this presentation, Will LaForest will discuss how the same incredible transformation can be achieved with some of the hardest problems we face defending our nation.

Topic: AI and Hunting the Zero Day Threat

THIS SESSION HAS REACHED CAPACITY

This coffee talk will introduce an AI based framework and patented technologies to detect, contain, and quarantine zero day threats (both file based and file-less) deployed and operational with the USG.  We will introduce an architectural view that illustrates sensor placement for pre-breach, wire speed detection.  The Coffee Talk will then seque into a practical demonstration at our booth where security analysts can get hands on, practical experience of “moving up the attack chain” to hunt advanced threats before they bring down the enterprise.

EAST THEATER

Topic: Rethinking the Concept of Trust

THIS SESSION HAS REACHED CAPACITY

Innovation thrives when people can collaborate in a trusted manner, leveraging data creatively and freely through technology. This intersection is also the point of greatest vulnerability for agencies and the primary source of security breaches driving cyber risk to all-time highs.   Security policies are traditionally based on broad decisions of trust – or distrust – with rules based on people, devices, systems, and infrastructure that make up the overall IT environment.  But this type of situational “trust” isn’t really trust at all – it’s a privilege-based system and it’s easy for an attacker to exploit.  The only challenge for the attacker is now how to get in and in this new era where the perimeter has all but vanished, the attack surface to target is endless and this old approach to security and trust simply doesn’t work. Considering this new paradigm, come learn about strategies for long-term solutions to data management that embrace a contextual-trust-based architectures.

Topic: What’s your plan of ATT&CK? Using the MITRE framework to assess and improve your cyber maturity

THIS SESSION HAS REACHED CAPACITY

In this interactive session, you will learn the skills and tools leading threat hunters use to uncover and stop sophisticated cyber attacks. We will explore how security practitioners of all skill levels can leverage the MITRE ATT&CK™ Matrix  and how ATT&CK can be used as a training tool to learn more about attacker tradecraft. We’ll cover: ATT&CK’s primary utilities in understanding the taxonomy of post-compromise adversary techniques, how to build detection programs designed to discover when those techniques are being used in your environment, and how to integrate ATT&CK into training programs to help analysts be better prepared to identify and respond to a technique when it shows up in their environment.
